Warfield ~ West Virginia Old Time Fiddle Tune
I learned this one from Dave Bing back in 2007 at the Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins, WV. I enjoy playing it at a slow tempo, though a fast jam is fun, too.

Lovely Rendition 😊
I love the acoustics of the fiddle ringing off the insides of the boxcar. I bet you miss that fiddle, since it disappeared at the end.
Awesome !!!! ❤

YESSSSSSSS SIIIRRRRRR!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!

I'm very glad to hear this tune again. It's been way too long.
Nice!
Beautiful!
I noticed over the years you changed the way you hold the fiddle, any reason why? Thanks -Clemy
It's actually easier for me to hit the notes correctly when holding the fiddle correctly. But I still hold it the old way when I play in cross tuning -- that's more forgiving.
@@daveprychitko6217 Thank you for letting me know. I play it the way you used to because I enjoy singing while I play. When I play waltzes and other slower tunes I play it the correct way.
Nice and creative Videos,I can see A lot of thought has been put into the content and editing of the video, This is really my favorite channel.:) .🌴🌴🌴excellent 👍👌👍👌👍 🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 Thomasville 2020
Hello my friend, I remember the good time we had jamming together at Augusta in 2008. Time flies.
Hi Wilmer, thanks for the message! It's been a long time. I hope all is well!
Interesting post

Sounds awesome fellas 👏🏻👏🏻
Sounds good, Uncle Ken!
Nice.
I have a turn of the century banjolele metal body I think the skin is 9" across smaller than yours I believe they were made before amplification for vaudeville stages. Better projection
You are the man ! Excellent.
First comment in over a year
Nice, has a little bit of "Billy in the low ground flavor" played in "C" like your song as much in "D" Are you self taught if you don't mind me asking ? You sir are a good fiddler.
Bill, I'm largely self taught, but have also had the good fortune of learning new tunes by ear from a mentor of mine, plus I attended the Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins, WV eleven years ago and spent a week in a workshop led by Dave Bing, learned many tunes there and became a better fiddler.
What kind and size guitar are you playing. Mandolin to if possible the country of origin. Nice to see that you are not a carbon copy. Really enjoy hearing you and trying to play along.
Bill, that's a Larivee (Canadian) parlor-sized guitar. The mandolin is a Kentucky (U.S? Probably China). Thanks for stopping by!
Nice!
I'm glad Mike F. got my seat after I left. :) I love that tune, and it sounds great with all those fiddles playing it.
Wow, that's fast. Phil kept up, though. Sounds great!
One of my favorite tunes to play in Cross tuning!
Very very nice guitar original and pleasant video DP! The Northwoods is a place for serenity.
Well done and done creatively with you playing all the instruments!! How cool is that? A favorite tune of mine at Hiawatha Fest every year!! Thanks for posting ottlakerambler!
This man has sent us a message of hope among despair.
is this related to 'i found a horseshoe' ? (from carl sandburgs american songbag)
I don't think so.
Good listening. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed. Gwen
Thanks, Gwen!
.....:)
I just listened to the Ernie Carpenter, and I really like yours so much better - you play it slow enough to bring out the melancholy in it. Loved it.
Thanks for your compliment! But really, Ernie's is the best!
You're aren't playing it "incorrectly" - like any good folk fiddler, you simply added your two cents to it! ;)
YES! Love the environment and fiddle style. True Appalachian fiddler.
Thanks!
beautiful..i live in Ireland where we have great trad and folk music and the traditions of some of the USA states are fascinating to me
Was this train 2-miling? or was it parked?

You still got it boys!
I know... we still have hope the new meds will help, though.

Spot on!
I love the tune and just learned to play it [poorly] on the fiddle; but how does it differ from another fiddle tune called 'Cherokee Trail'?
Not sure -- I haven't heard Cherokee Trail.
Beautiful.
Thanks!
Sounds good, but a bit too low.
play it as you like it
God bless West Virginia. It was reading about them that first made me comprehend how different "mountain people" are from other people, and how alike they are too one another in so many ways, regardless of where they be geographically. Independent, stubborn, self-reliant. The same no matter what "mountain folks" you choose, whether Balkan, New England, Appalachian, Rocky Mountains, Montagnard, Scottish Highlands, etc. All share the same separation from the "flatland" folk.
Great job. I like the fact that you chose the empty boxcar.
What year's that ole Willys?
fiddler2u 1946. My father in law's.
Ain't nuthin gonna bring out that mournful fiddle more than gittin yer truck stuck in the muck! I feel yer pain brother! Deep down soulful sounds to soothe that stuck truck Chuck!
Nah, I think that's just something someone threw in the woods to get rid of. It wouldn't be West Virginia without excessive littering.
